How to Choose an SEO Agency in Bangladesh: 12 Questions to Ask Before You Sign

How to choose an SEO agency in Bangladesh comes down to four moves. Start with a business goal, such as calls or sales, check that the agency is real and has local proof, ask every agency the same questions, and compare the proposals with a scorecard.

Most bad SEO deals sound great on the sales call. The trouble shows up in month three, when the reports show better keyword rankings and the phone is not ringing.

This post is for local businesses, online stores and companies that sell abroad. It follows Google's own advice on hiring an SEO and adds the checks that matter in Bangladesh.

The Short Answer: 6 Steps to Choose an SEO Agency

Hiring an SEO agency in Bangladesh takes six steps, from your first idea to your first 90 days. Each step below stands on its own.

  1. Decide what you want first. Write one sentence about the result you need, such as more calls for your Gulshan clinic.
  2. Build a shortlist of three to five agencies. Use referrals, verified reviews and local directories, and avoid cold messages.
  3. Run a 10-minute background check. Confirm the company is real, its own website is honest, and its case studies are true.
  4. Send every agency the same short brief. Identical briefs make the proposals easy to compare.
  5. Ask the same 12 questions. Good answers are specific, plain and written down.
  6. Score the proposals. Pick the agency with the clearest plan and the best proof, not the lowest price.

What Does a Good SEO Agency Actually Do?

Many first-time buyers do not know what they are buying. A good agency works on the areas below, and every proposal should say how much of each one you get.

You will also see "SEO company" and "SEO agency" used for the same thing. The label matters less than the team and the scope.

Area What it covers What to ask
Technical SEO Crawling, indexing, speed and fixes on your site Which fixes will you make yourself?
Keyword and page plan One target search for each page Which page will target which search?
Content New pages and articles, plus better titles, headings and copy Who writes it, and who reviews it?
Links and mentions Editorial links from relevant sites Which sites, and can I see the list?
Local SEO Business Profile, listings and reviews Who manages the profile?
AI search visibility Clear answers, accurate business details and structured data What do you do beyond normal SEO?
Reporting Monthly numbers from your own accounts Which accounts do the numbers come from?

Step 1. Decide What You Want Before You Call Anyone

Agencies sell what you ask for. If you only say "rank higher on Google," they will choose the goal for you. This is the part of how to choose an SEO company in Bangladesh that most owners skip.

Write these down before the first call.

  • A one-sentence goal. Write "more calls for our Gulshan clinic," not "rank higher on Google." A clear goal lets you judge every proposal against it.
  • The pages that should bring in customers. List the service, product or category pages that should earn calls or orders. This tells an agency where to focus.
  • What counts as a result. Pick calls, form leads, orders or sales. Rankings alone are not a result.
  • A rough budget range. Decide what you can spend each month before you speak to anyone. The cost section below gives typical ranges.
  • What your team can give each month. List who can give website access, whether you have a developer, and who approves content. SEO stalls when approvals take weeks.

Open Google Search Console before you call anyone. Some Facebook-first businesses find that their website gets almost no search traffic. That is useful to know, because it shows your real starting point.

Pick a result that fits your business. Agencies that only talk about keyword rankings are selling activity, not growth. Use this table to set the right measure.

Business type What counts as a result
Online store Orders, sales and cost per order from organic search
Clinic, salon or coaching centre Calls, bookings and map directions
B2B or service firm Qualified form leads and quote requests
Exporter or IT firm selling abroad Enquiries from your target countries

SEO also takes months. If you need leads this month, ask each agency whether paid ads should run alongside it. Paying Google for ads does not change your organic rankings.

Step 2. Build a Shortlist of 3 to 5 Agencies

Three to five agencies are enough. More than that, and you will not have time to compare them properly. Here is how to find a good SEO company in Bangladesh without guessing.

These are good places to look.

  • Referrals from businesses like yours. Ask owners in your field who they hired and what changed. Ask what the agency did badly, too.
  • Verified reviews on Clutch and GoodFirms. Both sites list Bangladeshi SEO firms with client reviews. Read the details, not just the stars. Start with the Clutch list of SEO firms in Bangladesh and then check GoodFirms.
  • BASIS membership. BASIS is the national association of software and ICT companies. Ask whether the agency is a member and ask to see the certificate. Treat it as one signal, not proof.

Be careful with these sources.

  • Cold emails and Facebook messages. Google tells site owners to be wary of SEO firms that email them out of the blue.
  • Fiverr gigs that promise page one. No one controls page one, so the promise is a warning sign.

An agency that ranks well for "SEO agency" is a good sign. It shows the team can do SEO for itself. It does not prove the team can rank your site, so keep checking.

Step 3. Do a 10-Minute Background Check

Before you book a call, spend 10 minutes checking that the company is real. This SEO agency checklist catches most problems early. Each row takes about a minute.

Check What to look for Warning sign
Registration A trade license and company registration (RJSC) that match the agency's name No documents, or a different name
Office A real address you can find on a map Only a Facebook page or a mobile number
Invoice A proper invoice that states whether VAT applies "Cash only" or no invoice
Its own website Clear services and honest claims Link packages, "guaranteed rankings," fake-looking stats or leftover placeholder text
Reviews Detailed reviews on its Google Business Profile and Clutch Many short, generic 5-star reviews
Case studies A real client company you can name No client name, or a client you cannot reach

Ask to speak with a past client. A good agency will say yes, and Google also advises checking an SEO's business references. If the agency refuses, treat that as an answer.

Step 4. Send Every Agency the Same Short Brief

A shared brief makes proposals easy to compare side by side. It also tests the agency. A good agency will reply with questions of its own.

Copy this template and fill it in.

  • Business and what you sell. Two lines are enough.
  • Your goal. Use the one sentence from Step 1.
  • Website URL. Add your Search Console numbers if you can.
  • Three competitors. Name the sites that win the customers you want.
  • Budget range. Give a range, not a single number.
  • Timeline. Say when you need first results.
  • What access you can give. List who can approve content and who can fix the site.

Google says a good SEO should ask about your business, your competitors and how customers find you. If an agency sends a price with no questions, move on.

Step 5. Ask These 12 Questions

These are the key questions to ask an SEO agency before you sign. Ask all agencies the same ones. Good answers are specific, plain and put in writing.

1. What Will You Do in the First 90 Days on My Site?

A good agency can list the work for the first three months. The list should name pages and tasks, not just "optimization." Vague answers such as "ongoing SEO" usually mean there is no plan.

2. Which Searches Should I Target, and Why?

The agency should pick searches that match your goal and name the page for each one. Ask how it chose them. Searches with high traffic but no buyers are a poor choice.

3. Who Will Work on My Account, and How Many Other Clients Do They Handle?

Ask for names and roles. The person who sells you the plan is often not the person who does the work. As a rule of thumb, 10 to 15 accounts is a manageable load for a senior strategist.

4. How Do You Get Links?

Good links come from real sites that choose to mention you. Ask the agency to name the kinds of sites it will approach, and to share the full list each month. Also ask whether the agency follows Google Search Essentials, since Google lists this as a question to ask. Read the difference between backlinks and referring domains so you can judge the answer.

5. What Will You Fix Yourself, and What Will You Only Recommend?

Many agencies send a list of fixes and never make them. Ask which changes the agency will make on your site, and which your developer must make. If your developer must make most of them, add that cost to your budget.

6. Can You Show Results for a Business Like Mine, Using Search Console Data?

Ask for a case study from a similar business, with numbers from Search Console. Ask for named Bangladeshi clients you can check, and ask whether the agency has worked in your industry before. Screenshots of rankings alone are not enough, so ask whether you can speak with the client.

7. How Will You Report Progress, and From Which Accounts?

The report should pull from your own Search Console and Analytics, not from an agency-only dashboard. Ask for a sample report. You should be able to check any number in it yourself.

8. How Long Is the Contract, and How Do I Leave if It's Not Working?

Contract terms vary. Some agencies work month to month, some set a minimum of several months, and some offer a discount for a 12-month deal. Heavy penalties for leaving early are a warning sign. Ask for the minimum term, the notice period and any exit fee in writing.

9. Do You Guarantee a Number One Ranking?

The right answer is no. Google says "No one can guarantee a #1 ranking on Google." An agency that promises one is either guessing or planning to game the results.

10. Who Owns the Accounts, Content and Links if We Stop?

You should own your website, domain, Search Console, Analytics, Business Profile and all content. Ask what happens to articles and links if you leave. If the answer is "we keep them," look elsewhere.

11. What Do You Need From My Team Each Month?

Good SEO needs your help. Ask how many hours your team must give, who must approve content and how fast. An agency that needs nothing from you is either hiding something or planning very little work.

12. How Do You Handle Searches in Bangla, Banglish and English?

Bangladeshi customers search in all three. One person may type "dentist in Dhaka," another "দাঁতের ডাক্তার ঢাকা," and another "datar doctor dhaka." Ask how the agency finds these terms, who writes the Bangla content and how it will test whether each version brings visits. Bangla and English content often doubles the writing work, so ask how that appears in the price.

Step 6. Compare Proposals With a Scorecard

A scorecard turns a gut feeling into a number. It stops a smooth sales pitch from beating a better plan. Score every proposal the same way.

A good proposal includes these items.

  • Named deliverables. It lists what you will get, such as pages fixed and articles written.
  • Monthly hours. It says how many hours of work you get each month.
  • The people doing the work. It names the team and their roles.
  • A timeline. It sets a clear plan for the first 90 days.
  • The price. It states whether VAT is included or excluded.

Give each criterion a score from 1 to 5. Multiply the score by the weight, add up the results, and divide by 5. The best possible total is 100.

Criteria Weight What earns a 5 Your score (1 to 5)
Plan 20 A 90-day plan with named pages and tasks
People 15 Named specialists with a clear account load
Links 15 Named target sites and no link packages
Proof 15 Case studies from similar businesses, with Search Console data
Reporting 15 Monthly reports from your own accounts
Ownership 10 You own every account, file, and piece of content
Contract terms 10 A short-term, clear notice and no hidden exit fee

Copy this table into a spreadsheet and add a column for each agency. If two agencies score close, pick the one with clearer answers and better proof. Do not pick the lower price.

Our SEO proposal checklist shows how to read the scope line by line.

Red Flags That Should End the Conversation

These SEO agency red flags are enough to stop talks. One flag is a reason to ask more questions. Two flags are a reason to walk away.

  • "Page one in 7 days" or any ranking guarantee. No one controls Google's results. Google itself says to find another SEO if someone promises first place.
  • Links sold by quantity. Offers such as "1,000 backlinks," Web 2.0 posts or social bookmarking packages sell volume, not quality.
  • Price per keyword with no plan behind it. A keyword is not a deliverable. Ask which pages the agency will build or fix.
  • Prices that are hidden or far too low. A very cheap package cannot pay for real work, so it usually means bulk links or copied content. Hidden prices make proposals impossible to compare.
  • Mass-produced or copied content. Ask who writes the content and who edits it. Generic text rarely helps your site.
  • Reports that show rankings or traffic but no leads. Rankings and traffic alone do not pay your bills. A report should connect SEO to calls, orders or sales.
  • The agency keeps your accounts. If it holds Search Console, Analytics or your Business Profile in its own name, you cannot leave cleanly.
  • A request to link to its site from your footer. Google says you should never have to link to an SEO.
  • No plain-language explanation. If it cannot explain its methods in simple words, it may be hiding them. Google warns about companies that will not clearly explain what they plan to do.
  • No office, no registration, no invoice. An agency you cannot find or invoice is an agency you cannot hold to account.

Local Agency, International Agency, or Freelancer?

Each option fits a different job. Pick based on where your customers are and how big the job is. Hiring an SEO agency in Bangladesh for a local goal is a different choice from hiring one for a global goal.

A local agency understands Bangla and English searches, can meet you in person and invoices in BDT. This is usually the best fit for clinics, shops and schools.

An international agency makes sense when your customers are abroad. It knows the search results in those countries, but it often bills in dollars and works in a different time zone.

A freelancer fits a small, clear job such as a site audit or a Business Profile setup. The risk is that one person must cover every skill, and a sick day stops the work.

Size and focus matter too. A small agency that does mostly SEO often gives each client more attention.

A large full-service agency has more specialists, but SEO may be only one of many services. If search is your main channel, favor an agency where SEO is most of the work.

How Much Should You Pay?

Price follows the work, not the label. A narrow freelancer scope starts near ৳15,000 a month, and most small businesses spend ৳30,000 to ৳50,000 for full agency work. Large stores and export-facing sites pay more.

Our SEO cost in Bangladesh guide shows each price tier and how many expert hours it buys.

How Long Before You See Results?

Most agencies say SEO needs three to six months for clear results. Fixes to technical problems can show earlier, and competitive searches can take longer. Ask the agency for a timeline in writing, since Google advises asking what results to expect and in what timeframe. Set a first checkpoint at weeks 8 to 12.

After You Sign: Protect Yourself in the First 90 Days

The first 90 days decide whether the deal works. Your job is to give the agency the access it needs without giving up control. Keep these rules from day one.

  • Add the agency as a user, never as the owner. Do this in Search Console, GA4 and your Business Profile. Give the lowest level of access that lets the team do its work.
  • Keep control of your domain and hosting logins. If the agency needs server access, ask it to explain every change it makes.
  • Get the 90-day plan in writing. The plan should name the tasks, the pages and the dates.

Use this table to check progress at three points.

Day What to check
Day 30 Work completed. Compare the list of finished tasks with the plan.
Day 60 Early signs in Search Console, such as more impressions and new queries.
Day 90 The plan versus what was actually done, and the first changes in calls or leads.

Walk away if you see no work, no answers, or new links from spammy sites in your Search Console links report. Do not wait for a sixth month to confirm what the third month already showed.

Most Common FAQs on How to Choose an SEO Agency in Bangladesh

How Do I Know if an SEO Agency in Bangladesh Is Legit?

A legit agency has a registered company, a real office and a proper invoice. It also shows case studies from real clients who will talk to you. Check these in Step 3, and be careful with any agency that guarantees rankings.

Should I Hire a Local or a Foreign SEO Agency?

Hire a local agency if your customers are in Bangladesh. It understands Bangla and English searches and can meet you in person. Hire a foreign agency when your buyers are abroad, because it knows those search results better.

How Much Should I Pay an SEO Agency in Bangladesh?

A narrow freelancer scope starts near ৳15,000 a month. Most small businesses spend ৳30,000 to ৳50,000 for full agency work. Large stores and export-facing sites can pay ৳1,50,000 or more. The exact price depends on how hard your search results are.

Is It Safe to Give an SEO Agency Access to My Website?

It is safe if you control the level of access. At the audit stage, Google advises giving only read access to Search Console. If an agency needs FTP or server access, it should explain every change it makes. Add the agency as a user, never as the owner, and keep your own domain and hosting logins.

Can Any Agency Guarantee First-Page Rankings?

No. Google says no one can guarantee a number one ranking. An agency can promise work, reports and a plan. It cannot promise a position, because Google controls the results.

How Long Is a Normal SEO Contract in Bangladesh?

There is no single standard. Some agencies work month to month, some set a minimum of several months, and some offer a lower price for a 12-month deal. Pick the shortest term that still gives the agency time to work, and get the notice period and exit terms in writing.

What Should a Monthly SEO Report Show?

A good report shows clicks, impressions and top queries from Search Console, and the pages that gained or lost traffic. It lists the work completed, the problems found and the plan for next month. It also connects SEO to calls, leads or sales. You should be able to check every number in your own accounts.

Do SEO Agencies Handle AI Search Like ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews?

Some do, and much of the work is good SEO under a new name. It includes clear answers to real questions, strong content and accurate business details.

Google advises checking any AI search claim against its official guidance. Our guide on keyword research for AI Overviews shows what this work looks like.
